Isabel Schuurmans
Isabel Schuurmans is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with a background in psychology, neuroscience and psychiatric epidemiology. In her research, Isabel focuses on uncovering the biological factors underlying adverse child outcomes. She is particularly interested in brain development and epigenetic mechanisms, and in examining how these factors interact and evolve over time to shape an individual's susceptibility to mental health problems. Her project is part of HappyMums WP4 on biological mediators and environmental moderators of offspring risk and resilience. Through her work, Isabel aims to unravel the close connections between biological mechanisms and mental health across development.
