Karim Lekadir
Dr. Karim Lekadir is a senior researcher at the University of Barcelona and director of the Barcelona Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Lab (BCN-AIM) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier II (France), a PhD in Medical Image Computing from Imperial College London (UK), and was also previously a visiting scholar at Stanford University (USA). Karim’s research interests focus on the application of artificial intelligence to build predictive models from multi-source big data (clinical, imaging, biological and lifestyle) and the ethics of big data sharing and analytics with application to personalised medicine research.
Karim currently coordinates the H2020 euCanSHare, EuCanImage and EarlyCause projects and the Horizon Europe DataTools4Heart and RadioVal projects. He is also work package and task leader in six other EU-funded projects, including HappyMums, where he is leading the work on database harmonization, federated data analyses & HappyMums research platform (WP2) and contributing to the platform development & implementation for depression in pregnancy (WP5) and machine learning-driven risk prediction (WP8).
