Sara Poletti, PhD works as Researcher and Project Leader at the Psychiatry and Clinical Psychobiology Unit, Division of Neuroscience, of the  IRCCS San Raffaele Research Institute in Milan. Psychologist and Neuroscientist, her work focuses on the role of neuroinflammation in mood disorders and its impact on brain and behavior. From 2008 she has collaborated with a big European consortium for the study of mood disorders from the perspective of immunology: MOODINFLAME, for the study of neuroinflammation in mood disorders and MODDSTRATIFICATION, for the stratification of patients with mood disorder based on their immunological profile in order to give them a tailored treatment. As part of these projects, she has documented for the first time an effect of T cells, cytokines and the kynurenine pathway on brain integrity.
